While LiveJournal is down today... [18 Nov 2008|07:49am]

azkatraz

[heidi8]
Why not put together your programming submission for AZKATRAZ?

If you hadn't heard yet, LiveJournal is moving its data to Montana today, so it's going to be down for four-plus hours, starting at 8 AM Pacific time. It's a terrific time to do something else, and we've extended the deadline for Early Decision submissions!

Need a little more time to submit your proposal to AZKATRAZ? But wait… you still need to know before the end of the year whether or not you've been accepted so you can secure funding for travel! What's a presenter to do?

There's no need to worry, as we have extended our early submission deadline for presentation proposals to Monday, December 1, 2008! We know this time of year can get crazy, and we want you to have the time to submit your best proposals. Remember that proposals for lectures and panels should be 250-750 words in length and include as much detail about the content of the proposed session as possible, including a title, rationale for the session, and a summary of the paper or a list of questions and issues to be discussed. Proposals for roundtables and workshops should be 200-500 words in length and include a title, rationale, and a list of questions and issues to be discussed or demonstrated. A 150-word abstract and a short biography of each presenter will also be required with each proposal. There will be a separate process to submit if you want to participate in a fanfiction reading or submit a video for the vidding show. Submit your proposal electronically on the Azkatraz website at submissions.hp2009.org

Accepted early submissions will be notified by December 15, 2008. If you have any questions about programming, please contact our programming team at submissions@hp2009.org.

All the info you need - and the form - can be found here, or visit our forums for collaboration/brainstorming discussions.

I saw one of the ghosts again tonight. They have been so very quiet. Maybe it is the coming
cold weather that makes them hide and creep around very carefully when we are home.
We have gotten quite used to them, really. We accept their presence the way
we accept change. The way we accept sleep and rainy Saturday evenings.

Tonight, the visit happened right before dinner time. She kept opening our cupboards.
I often wonder why they do these things, and why they sometimes choose not to.
I wonder if they can hear me when I say thank you when they turn on a light right as I am about to
or when I ask them to stop making so much noise
because I'm alone and get afraid. I wonder if they ever feel alone and get afraid too.

We have snow already, it comes in silent waves and then leaves in a hurry.
It seems like that is the way everything works this time of year. Nothing can
quite make up it's mind.

Timed Sale? [16 Nov 2008|08:24pm]

i_seldom_do

its been over a year since the last timed edition print run,
and i am considering doing another one (since many of you seem upset about the last sale.)...

this is a type of sale where the print will be available for exactly one hour,
and anyone who clicks the button during that time will be guaranteed a print.

the edition size will be much larger than usual of course.
(but maybe this will fend off some of those ebay flippers.)
and those of you who have had no success in the past sales, can finally get a chance!

nothing is final though.
i might change my mind about it all.
but just wanted to know what people thought. :)

(i wish you can click on more than one in this poll, but i dont know how to.)
(and i think you have to be signed in to vote?... im not quite sure how this works...)

Poll #1298743 Timed Edition Print
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All

Which of these 6 images would you most like to see as a timed edition print?

The latest Halfblood Prince trailer (which will be shown with Twilight opening on November 21) looks to be pretty Snapey. You catch and download various versions of the trailer here. And here are the screencaps of the Snapey bits...

I believe we have some Killing Curse action...

Dumbledore better watch out...

And the angsty burning house scene...

Evermore [12 Nov 2008|01:41pm]

[ music | Gene - Your Love, it Lies ]

Everything in San Diego is really...really boring. We always end up doing the same stuff on weekends, like getting drunk and roaming the streets. It's kinda a drag, but I know it is a period of transition.
I have started to develop a crush on my friend...I have mixed feelings about telling her though. I really want to, yet I feel like I can't. I'm eventually going to though, no matter what the consequence. I need to get it off of my chest.
I feel kind of like I have less to talk about or say in general everyday. There is just not that much to talk about anymore. Ryan burned me a mix entitled "Shat Pop-Punk Mix of the Century" and it's pretty fucking funny and ridiculous. Everyone sort of kicked their heroin and coke habits and are just stoners now, which is cool I guess. I have smoked about once a week for the past month now and it's pretty chill actually. I barely need anything to get ripped.
So, that's truly all there is to say. : ]

Come to Comic-Con after Azkatraz [10 Nov 2008|09:07am]

azkatraz

[heidi8]

One of the reasons we chose our dates was to enable people to attend both AZKATRAZ in San Francisco and Comic-Con International in San Diego. There's only 40 seats available, so we recommend you sign up soon! Each Azkatraz registrant can purchase Comic Con Bus Trip tickets for up to four other people.

The trip, which includes transportation from the Parc 55 to the San Diego Convention Center and a tour of WB Studios in Los Angeles, as well as breakfast and lunch, is $200 per person.

Here's the details:

The trip will leave at dawn from the Parc 55 Hotel - you'll need to be on the bus sometime between five and six in the morning, but don't worry, you can sleep all the way to LA. We'll provide bagels and snacks, and make a brief stop so you can get some lunch. In Los Angeles, we'll stop at the Warner Brothers Studio for a two hour tour, and then get back on the bus and head the rest of the way to San Diego, where we'll be dropped off at the San Diego Convention Center at about seven o'clock, in time to pick up registration packets and take a walk around Comic Con's Preview Night (if you have a four-day Comic-Con registration).

The VIP Studio Tour at WB is the real behind-the-scenes look of a major motion-picture and television studio at work. See “behind-the-scenes” and “into-the-scenes” of your favorite shows and movies at the world’s busiest motion picture and television studio. Guests of the Warner Bros. Studios VIP Tour are offered a rare look into the world of entertainment as carts takes you through backlot streets, sound stages, sets and craft shops. No two tours are ever the same. The guides take you to where the action is. Walk on to a set of a hit television show, hear as Foley artists create sound effects for movies, see how sets are constructed, walk through rows and rows of costumes, watch a special effects demonstration, and the list goes on. But always, always be on the lookout for a star as production is happening all around.

Remember, you'll have to register for Comic-Con separately.

Note: If fewer than 35 people have registered for the bus trip as of May 15, we reserve the right to cancel it, or to change the vehicle to a smaller bus or a van. Full refund if this happens, of course.
